Custom Virtual DJ

The image that you can see above, is the loading image of my VirtualDJ, as I see that many fans to the Skins and customization I will give you a twist over the issue and I will further explain how to customize your program.

The first is to design a custom logo with Photoshop or our favorite photo editing program, the logo must have a size of 572×329 and we must save it as a “bmp” 24 bits.

The next thing we need is ResourceHacker, a program with which we can draw graphs of an executable and replace them with ours, the program does not require installation, just unzip it and run it…once open, select the VirtualDJ executable (/Program Files/VirtualDJ/virtualdj.exe) or where you have installed, to edit resources…the program automatically generate a backup of file you’re working, so if you have a problem we can always back.

The first file we are interested is the startup image of VirtualDJ, we can find in folder “Bitmap” in the number “206″ …

Right-click on the resource of the 206 folder and select “Replace Resource”, as shown in the picture below…select the logo that we have previously designed and replace the original…then we give “file” “save” and the next time we start VirtualDJ our logo will appear.

Another issue that always bothered me a lot is the VirtualDJ logo that appears in the program (as shown in the picture below), even in the Skins, to remove them, simply have to select under “Bitmaps” folder 254 and 311 and delete them, this will clean our Skins and without annoying logos.

The next step is the personalization of the skin itself so we need a new photo editing program can work with BMP’s and layers, I use Adobe Photoshop.

In this direction, they leave the sample file with layers ready to edit, corresponds to the image above:

The first thing is to unzip the file, you see that in the uncompressed folder are two files, a BMP and an XML (this is valid for all VirtualDJ Skins) edit the BMP with Photoshop and you only have to design a logo himself…and once I replace it, we must save it in BMP format  24 bits along with the XML file compressed in a “zip” file and place it in the Skins folder for Virtual DJ (usually Documents-Virtualdj-Skins), in addition to the BMP and XML and also left a Photoshop file with layers ready to edit.

This is only the beginning, do not be afraid to experiment, if done with care, making backups first, we can have a customized program and to our taste … What is important is not to change the image size and respect the active zones of the skin, buttons, faders, etc.
